{After reading this, click the Back button on your browser to return to the previous page.} INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Go to www.SmartShopWeb.net page. Click on the Campaign Updates link on the left side of the page under Downloads. This will take you to the SmartShop Downloads page. 2. On the SmartShop Downloads page, the column on the left has the links to the files (links are underlined). The column on the right identifies the files and may have instructions for downloading and/or running the files. Find the file you wish to download or view and click the link. 3. Text files; like this one; will be opened in your browser. Other types of files should cause a "Download Manager" to open. You may get a "Security Warning" box or a box that ask: "Open" or "Save to disk". Click [Save] it to disk (This means your hard drive not a floppy or CD). 4. Save the file to your Desktop (The Desktop is the screen that comes up first when you turn on your computer. It usually contains the My Computer Icon and other icons.). If you see a "Save As" form, the Desktop should have a frame around it. The file name will be shown in the "File Name" box. Click the [Save] button. You should see a "Progress" form showing the download progress. Close this form when the download is complete. 5. Close or minimize the communication (browser) windows. 5.a. For "Campaign Updates" there will be an icon on your Desktop with the name Open_nn where nn is the center campaign number. The file will also contain the two campaigns before nn and the two campaigns after nn. 5.b. For the "Demo" version installation there will be an icon on your Desktop with the name SSDemo. NOTE: Before running step 6, be sure SmartShop is closed. 6.a. For "Campaign Updates", double-click on the Open_nn icon. 6.b. For the "Demo" version, double-click on the SSDemo icon. 6. A "WinZip" window will appear. Press the key on the keyboard repeatedly until the "WinZip" window closes, it may take 3 or 4 key presses. Either file will extract to the SSTEMP folder and the proper function, (Upgrade for "Campaign Updates" or Install for the "Demo") will be called. See additional instructions below for the Upgrade or Install function. SMARTSHOP PREDEFINED FUNCTIONS: These functions perform similarly from within the C:\SSTEMP folder, from a diskette or from a CD. It is important that no other programs be running when any SmartShop functions are used. In particular, be sure that SmartShop is not running because Windows will protect the files that are being upgraded. Restarting your computer just before using SmartShop functions is a wise approach. UPGRADE Run UpGrade to move the Program Upgrades and Current Brochure Information to the C:\NewSmart folder. This is the same function that has been present in SmartShop for some time. Some sample commands are: Run A:UpGrade, (When on a Floppy); Run D:\Files\Upgrade (When on a CD) and Run C:\SSTEMP\Upgrade. Running can also be accomplished by using "My Computer" to locate the Upgrade file and double-clicking on it. Additional "WinZip" windows may open. Don't worry about which button you should click; just keep pressing the key on your keyboard until the "WinZip" window closes. When the "Update Program" opens (blue screen), enter two digits for the year and two digits for the campaign number. If the campaign number is correct, just press the Enter key. When "Notepad" opens, read through the file. It covers a variety of information about the software. Close "Notepad" by clicking the "Close" button (the X in the upper right corner). INSTALL The INSTALL function allows the download to be used to perform an initial installation of the SmartShop Demo program. While using the Demo all SmartShop functions are supported. The only limitation is that receipts and thereby the customer history can only be generated for the first ten customers entered into the system. The initial sales tax calculations are at 1%. The receipts will initially say "Call Demo @ 303 795-3275". Both of these can be changed to reflect the correct sales tax and representative information by contacting the SmartShop staff at the above phone number or by sending an email to SSS@SmartShopWeb.net. The representative can then distribute customer receipts which are calculated correctly and have the correct representative contact information. The Demo system can be modified to the full function system without loss of the customer and order information entered into the system while using the SmartShop Demo. Contact the SmartShop Staff to enroll for SmartShop services. HELP WITH WINDOWS FUNCTIONS. To Make A New Icon (Not required to use the SmartShop DOS version.). On the Desktop open My Computer (Open = double left click on most systems but single click on some). Open the C: (Hard drive). There is usually a slide bar on the right. Find and Open the NewSmart folder. (If you have trouble finding the NewSmart folder see Using View\Details below.) In the NewSmart folder find the SS200???.exe or the SSDemo??.exe (the .exe may not show depending on Windows settings). They have an Icon shaped like a torch with a red flame on a blue circle. Right click to get menu. Put the mouse cursor (arrow) on "Send to". In the Send to menu, left click on "Desktop - Create Shortcut". Close "My Computer". You should have the shortcut on the Desktop. Test it by opening it. You should see a gray frame with Files, Campaign, etc. across the top. Click on "Campaign" and then "Shop" to test it. Opening the SSTemp Folder On the Desktop Open My Computer (Open = double left click on most systems but single click on some). Open the C:(Hard drive). There is usually a slide bar on the right. Find and Open the SSTemp folder. If you have trouble finding the SSTemp folder see Using View\Details below. Using View\Details Having large Icons increases the difficulty of finding items. On the open window frame the third from the left is the choice "View". If you click "View" a menu appears. Click "Details" to provide lines of information. Clicking the word "Name" will put the items in alphabetical order. Using the Slide Bar on the right aids in finding items.
